What do the GRI and ABR designations mean to buyers and sellers of Real Estate?

I am consistently learning and expanding my expertise in my field.   I am a student of the business and a voracious reader of industry related materials.  I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing, with an emphasis in Real Estate and Finance.   I earned my Michigan Real Estate Broker License, which is a considerable achievement in itself.   In order to earn the Broker status, certain substantial experience and educational requirements were studied, tested, and achieved.

In addition to my college degree and Broker status, I went on to earn my GRI designation.  GRI stands for "Graduate, Realtor Institute".   GRI is a nationally recognized designation developed by the National Association of REALTORS.   REALTORS who earn this designation complete a rigorous classroom training and have an ongoing goal to "provide professional service to the public".   Training covers all aspects of the real estate business.   "The GRI designation tells clients and colleagues that the holder has completed a comprehensive program and earned the mark of professional EXCELLENCE in the field".  You may learn more about the GRI designation at www.realtor.org/gri.

After completing my GRI, I earned my ABR.   ABR stands for Accredited Buyer Representative or Representation.   I was awarded the ABR designation by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council (REBAC) of the National Association of REALTORS.   REBAC is the world's largest association of real estate professionals focusing on representing the real estate buyer.   "Today's real estate brokers and agents want to provide a full menu of services for their clients, whether they are buyers or sellers.   The ABR designation, the benchmark of excellence in real estate buyer representation, demonstrates to clients that the agent has taken steps to continue their education in the field of buyer representation, and has proven the experience and training to deliver ethical and professional service to real estate buyers."  You may learn more about the ABR designation by opening the PDF document below.
